It is now 10 years since I meet Kjeld Brandt in England and I was excited to be asked to visit Denmark and play with "The New Orleans Delight" which I already knew was a well know band. Over the years I have made many trips and not only have all the musicians become my friends, I have also got to know so many people from the audiences from a country I have come to know and enjoy. A call from Kjeld means I get my trumpet and bag together and start packing for another visit!
This November was planned, trains and planes booked, times of arrivals arranged and Kjeld's usual welcome glass of wine, I'm sure, was waiting, then - a small pain in my back developed and withing a few days I was unable to walk. The position I am in now is that the doctor's have the pain under control by using drugs and x rays and MRI scans taken. I am now waiting for a place in hospital so that the treatment I may need will take place.I will let Kjeld know of my progress and please give my kind regards to any of my Danish friends you may meet.
I should have been in Vanløse this weekend and in Taastrup in two weeks time, sorry I could not be with you.
There is a song that I play with the band called "Oh How I Miss you Tonight", well I do miss you, but hope to meet and play for you again in 2012.
My Best regards
